at Tøjhusmuseet (The Royal Danish Arsenal Museum) on Slothsolmen on February 21 and 22.

Bring Your Own Beamer (BYOB)

BYOB is an open format in which a large number of video artists and others working creatively with the video medium are invited to project (“beam”) their video productions onto Tøjhusmuseets’s unique historical walls, floors, ceilings, and cannons.

BYOB is based on a simple idea: find a location, invite a lot of artists and ask them to bring their own video projectors. This format has been developed by Dutch-Brazilian artist Rafaël Rozendaal and has taken place at various sites in cities as such as New York, Sao Paulo, Barcelona, Sydney, and Seoul.

Remix of works from SMK

As a special feature, Statens Museum for Kunst, SMK (The National Gallery of Denmark), will make reproductions of more that 100 historical works available to the BYOB participants who may remix them freely into their video productions. Learn more about SMK’s presentation of the cultural heritage via Creative Commons.

At the same time, BYOB serves as a portal to four exclusive concerts in the adjacent Chr. IVs Bryghus by the Danish bands Turboweekend and The Mountains.

There is free entrance all evening to BYOB at Tøjhusmuseet, while the concerts require separate tickets.

You can experience BYOB as a spectator or participate with your own projector. See how here: February 21 and February 22.

BYOB is a part of the FOKUS 2014 video art festival.
