Taste of Emotions challenges your senses

Taste of Emotions mixes culinary artistry with video art in an experimental dining event designed to appeal to all the senses. In co-operation with I’M A KOMBO and Hvirvelvin, FOKUS and the Copenhagen Cooking festival have had a special menu composed of both food and drink that will relate directly to a selection of fascinating video works, carefully handpicked to accompany and expand the culinary experience. This is Taste of Emotions.

The dinner will take as its starting point video works by Cuban-American artist Anthony Goicolea and Danish-Palestinian artist Larissa Sansour, and the boys from I’m A KOMBO describe the evening as “a slap and a hug”. Anthony Goicolea’s unsettling and high-tension psychological universe is the burning slap, subsequently to be atoned by Larissa Sansour’s warm and including work Festmåltid (“Feast”).

The special menu will be served at various locations at Nikolaj Kunsthal, Copenhagen Contemporary Art Centre, along with the video art that will intensify, disturb, provoke and in other ways expand the culinary experience.

The dinner arrangement includes a full multi-course meal as well as wine and beer.

World premiere

This is the first time that Anthony Goicolea’s works are shown in Denmark. For this arrangement, a total of five works will be presented, the earliest from 2002 and the most recent from 2013. This evening is thus not merely a gastronomic event par excellence; it also offers the unique opportunity of experiencing a premiere of Goicolea’s entire video oeuvre, revolving around  neuroses, compulsive actions, and budding sexuality.

Taste of Emotions is a collaboration between Nikolaj Kunsthal and I’M A KOMBO and is presented as a part of the Copenhagen Cooking festival.

The dinner costs DKK 450.-, including a full dinner with wine.
