Among other subjects, the conversation will touch on Akomfrah’s montage aesthetics, politics of history elements such as re-enactment, tableaux vivants, musicality and the literary references of Vertigo Sea. It will be a conversation that aims to make visible many aspects of the artist’s practice and his enormous effort to create this particular work, opening up to issues related to a discussion of the “attention economy” so highly influential to an understanding of forms of refuge, today as well as historically.
